Sun and moon in nickel-plated Muonionalusta — 14.9 g, 28.8 × 27.5 mm, 3.9 mm thick. Almost perfectly square in footprint, which suits a two-part motif: neither element dominates the composition by proportion.
Specification
Material: Muonionalusta iron meteorite, nickel plated
Weight: 14.9 g
Dimensions: 28.8 × 27.5 × 3.9 mm
Reference: LK377
Carved and plated
The motif is cut into the meteorite before plating, so the nickel follows the carved relief rather than sitting on a flat face. Underneath is the iron-nickel lattice that identifies the material — grown during millions of years of cooling in open space, revealed by acid etching.
