A broad Muonionalusta band finished in 24K gold plating — 10 mm wide, 2.2 mm thick, carved by hand. The plating changes what the surface does: where bare meteorite throws a cold silver flash, gold warms the reflection and softens the contrast at the crystal boundaries.

Underneath the gold
The base metal is elemental iron-nickel, and what identifies it as meteoritic is the interlocking lattice running through it — formed at roughly one degree of cooling per million years under microgravity, and exposed by etching with nitric acid. Every attempt to simulate those conditions in a laboratory has failed.
Width and finish together
10 mm is wide enough to carry the plating as a surface in its own right. On the 4 mm gold band the finish dominates; at this width the pattern underneath still leads.
