The metal underneath
Iron meteorite is an iron-nickel alloy carrying a crystal lattice that grew during an extraordinarily slow cooling in space. Acid etching is what makes that lattice visible; it is also the standard test for identifying the material.
Stacking
A 4 mm band is the one you can wear next to other rings without crowding. If you want the meteorite itself to be the feature rather than the finish, the 10 mm gold band gives it far more room.
