A Brenham pallasite specimen mounted as a pendant necklace. Brenham is an olive meteorite — olivine crystals suspended in a nickel-iron matrix — and a cut slice of it is one of the few materials where a mineral and a metal are visible in the same plane.

What makes a pallasite different
Most meteorites are either stone or metal. A pallasite is both at once: translucent olivine held inside opaque nickel-iron. Held to light the crystals glow green while the surrounding metal stays dark, and because the olivine settled naturally, no two slices share a distribution.
Care
The metal phase contains iron and corrodes in open air, so the piece is sealed with an epoxy coating. Avoid abrasives and prolonged soaking.
